Narrative Report (limit to 500 words)

 

Since 2006, I have been engaged in the research of biomedical polymer materials benefiting from my interdisciplinary background in polymer chemistry and physics, nanotechnology, medicine, and pharmacy. My research interests are focused on the syntheses of functional biodegradable polymers as the matrices of stimuli-responsive nanocarriers for smart drug delivery.

 

I received my B.S. in Polymer Chemistry from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2007. I got my PhD in Polymer Chemistry from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry (CIAC), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2012 under the supervision of Prof. Xuesi Chen. Since then, I have remained in Prof. Xuesi Chen's group as a research associate to continue studies and supervise graduate students in stimuli-responsive polymer-based nanocarriers for controlled drug release.

 

After nearly 10 years of systematic research training, I have accumulated sufficient research skills in polymer synthesis, self-assembly, drug loading and controlled release, cell experiment, as well as construction of animal models of various subcutaneous or orthotopic tumors. Recently, I have been, an active reviewer of over 80 academic journals, including Advanced Functional Materials, Biomaterials, Journal of Controlled Release, Small, Chemical Communications, International Journal of Cancer, Biomacromolecules, Trends in Biotechnology, and so forth. In addition, I have served as a guest editor of 6 journals, which include Current Medicinal Chemistry, Current Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Current Pharmaceutical Design, Frontiers in Pharmacology, Journal of Nanomaterials, and Polymers. At this point, I have authored and co-authored more than 100 academic papers with over 2800 citations and an h-index of 32, and I have been granted over 60 China Invention Patients. Due to my significant accomplishments, I have been awarded over 10 awards, for example, the 2012 President Excellence Award of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

 

In summary, I have been active in the field of biomedical polymers for about 10 years. I am currently carrying out the studies about stimuli-responsive polymer nanoparticles for the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases like cancers. I believe the coupling of my intense motivation, creativity, and experience would allow me to make promising progress in the areas of polymer nanomaterials for biomedical applications.
